Abstract

A Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) analysis has been effectively applied to investigate the transmission of the transverse electric polarized pulses in 90° bend optical waveguide. Comparison with a Time Domain Beam Propagation Method (BPM) based on finite element scheme has been made and excellent agreement is achieved. Moreover, a detailed study of photonic crystal square ring waveguide resonators has been carried out. A series of simulations are performed to determine by how much the radius of holes would have to be tuned to result in radiation at λ = 1.55255 μm (the center of the telecommunications c band) to be dropped.
