In this investigation, the maintenance problem of induction furnaces which usually faces the foundry men has been examined, using on condition maintenance. This is for 11ning, and also to know when to take a decision to change the lining of furnace. This can be reached by continuous measuring of furnace resistivity. In other words. the power should be stopped when the reg18tivity of the furnace reaches a certain predetermined value, otherwise 181lure of the lining occurs and even explosion liable to take place.
