Abstract

The paper focuses on monitoring the urban transformations in Sheikh Zayed City as a result of the expansion of gated communities. Sheikh Zayed City is considered as one of the most important examples that can be studied as a residential new city. The master plan has been modified many times to meet the demand of the high social classes housing. Most of the city land plots have been allocated for gated communities, which impacted on the city’s urban
The paper concluded, through the field study of Sheikh Zayed City, how to deal with the urban structure of the city, with the presence of gated communities that became a reality in the new cities, so that it becomes a homogenous component in the urban tissue of the city, to reduce the negative impacts on new cities’ urban structure
