Comparison of the Efficiency, Service Quality, and the Operation of the Urban Passenger Transport Modes in Medium Size Cities in A.R.E (El-Mansoura City as a Study Case).

Abstract

There are many transport problems facing medium size cities in A.R.E. public passenger transport Supply is attributed mainly to rapid growth in Inadequate enormous expansion of urbanization coupled with scarce transport demand and resources for capital investment in such cities.
Although the public transport could be considered the efficient form of passenger transport m terms of its carrying capacity in conjunction will the road space it occupies yet different types of shared taxes and vehicles ( Microbuses , Minibuses and Metered Taxes) started to donimate on the road network of the cities. It is of great inters to compare between all these models in terms of their role, service quality, reliability and efficiency Field data and operation information have been collected for three main corridors five shared taxes lines in  Mansoura city in order to carry the comparison between these vehicles.

finally, it was found from the point of view of the user that the relative travel time, waiting times, and the overall speed are the most important factors taken into consideration by the passengers. The users also prefer one specific mode over another on the basis of the total cost of trip.
